Amy and I founded Morse & Morse, LLC with a clear mission: to provide the best possible service to our clients. In the field of criminal defense, providing excellent service goes a lot deeper than simply filing paperwork or representing clients in trial. We have to know state and federal law inside and out, stay up to date with the latest laws and statutes, and use every resource at our disposal to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our clients’ rights and well-being. I’m proud to say that at our firm, we do this and more.
There are many factors that make our firm different, but perhaps the most prominent is our team approach. In Florida — and really, throughout the U.S. — it is not all that common to find a criminal law office with more than one attorney, much less one with an incredible support staff to boot. Over the years, though, we’ve found that our team approach makes us extremely successful in negotiations and trial. You see, not only can our team brainstorm legal strategies together, but we can also handle more difficult and complex cases. In other words, our team can put more pressure on the opposing side.
Every case is an opportunity to change someone’s life for the better. I take that responsibility very seriously.
I have now been practicing criminal law in Florida for more than 17 years, and I am as passionate about the work as I have ever been. To me, there is nothing so rewarding as being able to take a huge burden off of a clients’ shoulders.
For instance, in 2012, Amy and I began representing a client in a high-profile case here in Palm Beach. Our client, Vernon Lee Havens, was alleged to have staged an armed robbery at his own jewelry store in order to collect $5.6 million from his insurance company. When Havens came to us, he was facing charges of robbery, kidnapping, insurance fraud, and a life sentence — an overwhelming prospect for him, to say the least.
After thoroughly investigating and exposing the evidence, we were able to get the charges against our client dropped, which in turn allowed him to return to his life and business. Of course, not every case is quite like this one, but I do view each as an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. Being able to help people in the way that we do is an incredible reward in and of itself.
